At an event sponsored by UW-Madison’s Middle East Studies program four professors discussed the two major presidential candidate’s views on the future of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. The panel included Uli Schamiloglu, Professor of Languages and Cultures of Asia, Nadav Shelef, Assistant Professor of Comparative Politics, Jeremi Suri, Assistant Professor of History, Joe Elder, Professor of Sociology, Languages and Cultures of Asia. The event was held at the UW-Extension Lowell Center on October 13, 2008.

Top economic advisors of the two presidential campaigns met at Grainger Hall on the UW-Madison campus to discuss key economic issues in an event moderated by Dr. Michael Knetter, dean of the Wisconsin School of Business. The event, entitled “Proposals for Change: Economic Policy Platforms of the Presidential Campaigns,” was held on October 10, 2008.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain held a “Road to Victory Rally” at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse on October 10, 2008. The previous day McCain held rallies in Waukesha and Mosinee.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin held a “Straight Talk Town Hall” event at the Center Court Sports Complex in Waukesha on October 9, 2008.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain held a “Road to Victory Rally” at the Central Wisconsin Airport in the Wausau Paper Co. Hangar in Mosinee on October 9, 2008. Earlier in the day McCain appeared with vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin at a Waukesha rally.

The McCain Campaign Wisconsin Farm and Ranch Team held an event at the World Dairy Expo in Madison on October 2, 2008 to discuss their support for John McCain republican presidential ticket.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain held a “Road to Victory” Rally in Green Bay at the Resch Center on September 18, 2008. McCain was joined by vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

In the first campaign stop following the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn. Republican presidential candidate U.S. Sen. John McCain and vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin talked to potential voters in Cedarburg on September 5, 2008. The event was held in the community’s downtown at Washington Ave. and Columbia Road.

Former Republican Governor of Wisconsin, Tommy Thompson, held a conference call to discuss the nomination of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama as the democratic presidential candidate on August 28, 2008.

The McCain Campaign opened a “Victory Center” office in Kenosha on August 26, 2008 with an open house event. Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Reince Priebus, Senate Minority Leader Sen. Scott Fitzgerald and Assembly Majority Leader Rep. Jeff Fitzgerald attended the event.

McCain Campaign volunteers in Wisconsin took part in a national “Super Saturday” volunteering event on August 23, 2008. WisconsinEye followed a group of volunteers at a McCain Campaign office in Fitchburg. Volunteers made phone calls and went door to door in the community to help the campaign.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) held a news conference on nuclear energy with elected officials and members of the UW staff and administration at the Mechanical Engineering Building on the UW-Madison campus. Gov. Pawlenty also campaigned for presidential candidate, Senator John McCain.

McCain was in Wisconsin to host a town hall meeting in Racine, his fourth visit to the state since he locked up the nomination. Prior to McCain’s presentation, WisconsinEye had the chance to sit-in on an interview conducted by C-Span of Reince Priebus. Chairman of the Republican Party of Wisconsin, in which he describes how the GOP is preparing for the November Elections as well as issues with ballot security.

As a continuation of the McCain Town Hall Meeting, Senator McCain and his wife Cindy McCain address an audience in Racine, WI. Introducing Cindy McCain was William Reynolds, Racine County Executive, who then introduced her husband, Senator McCain.
